Biodiversity of Animals

The concept of a phylum

A phylum is a major grouping in animal classification, based on shared body plan features. Of the roughly 30 animal phyla, six are studied here: Porifera, Cnidaria, Platyhelminthes, Annelida, Arthropoda, and Chordata.
